BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Veterans from Whatcom and Skagit counties were able to enjoy a weekend of hunting and fishing complete with a hero’s welcome last weekend.

The McNett Corporation in Bellingham raised $10,000 to send ten local vets on an all-expenses-paid “Hunting with Heroes” expedition in Klickitat County.

McNett CEO Travis Huisman says the trip is a great bonding experience for vets.

This is the first year McNett reached out to other businesses to help raise money for the trip, and they were excited by the response.

When the veterans returned to Bellingham, students from Carl Cozier Elementary School lined Lincoln Street to welcome them home.

The students waved American flags and cheered, “Thank you veterans!”
