Increase in Bellingham bike thefts

KGMI News Reporting

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Bellingham Police are seeing an increase in stolen bikes.

Officer Mark Young says the best thing a person can do to prevent their bike from being stolen is to always lock it up, even if they are only going to step away for a moment.

Don’t leave a bike outside overnight as thieves can cut through locks if given the time to do so.

People should write down the make, model and serial number of a bike, so if it is stolen, police can give that information to local pawn shops and try to recover it for the owner.
