BELLINGHAM, Wash. – An inmate is back in custody after escaping from the Whatcom County Jail’s work center.

Twenty-eight year old Andrew Scott Huber escaped from the work center sometime around 2:00 p.m. Saturday.

It’s believed he scaled a “climb-proof” enclosure and crawled through a small opening above the outdoor recreation area.

Sheriff’s deputies and a Bellingham K-9 team caught Huber on the beach near Marine Drive and Locust Avenue around 5:00 p.m. Sunday.

Officers searched the area after learning that Huber had contacted people in the Bellingham area. He was arrested without incident.

Huber is now being held in the Whatcom County Jail facing further charges for escape.
