OLYMPIA, Wash – Governor Jay Inslee is asking the federal Small Business Administration to declare an economic-injury disaster for Skagit and surrounding counties.
The governor says traffic detours made necessary by the collapse of the I-5 bridge over the Skagit River had a significant impact on area businesses.
The declaration is being sought in order for the SBA to provide low-interest loans to affected businesses.
A decision on the request is expected in the next few days.
