Inslee signs privacy bill

OLYMPIA, Wash. (Metro) — With Governor Jay Inslee’s signature, Washington becomes the eighth state to have a law that bars employers from asking for employees’ social-media website passwords.

The measure makes it against the law for any employer or potential employer in Washington to request social-media passwords for accounts maintained by current or prospective employees.

Thirty-three other states are considering similar bills.
