OLYMPIA, Wash. – Governor Jay Inslee says he wants to call a special legislative session in November so lawmakers can get a transportation package approved before the end of this year.
The governor is renewing his call for a 10-cents-per-gallon increase in the state gas tax to fund transportation projects across Washington.
The same proposal was put forth during this year’s regular session, but didn’t pass.
Senate Republicans say the state must change how it spends taxpayer money on transportation projects before a gas-tax hike can be considered.
