BELLINHAM, Wash. – Lehmann’s Maytag Home Appliance Center, one of Bellingham’s oldest family owned stores, will be changing hands at the end of the month.
Third-generation owner Terry Lehmann has announced he’s retiring and selling the store to Judd & Black, another family-owned retailer with five locations in Snohomish and Skagit counties.
Judd & Black will begin operations at the store on October 1.
Lehmann says it should be a smooth transition.
He says he looks forward to having more time for gardening.
Lehmann’s has survived for 84 years in Bellingham despite competition from many big-box retailers.
The store moved to its present location at the intersection of James, Iowa and State streets in 2009.
Lehmann is holding a retirement party at the store to thank the community on September 26 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
