BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Red Cross has begun relief efforts in the Philippines after a devastating typhoon last Friday.
Officials say the death toll could reach well over 10,000.
Stacy Rice with the Mount Baker Chapter of the American Red Cross says their primary goal is to help fundraising efforts.
Because it is an international disaster effort, she says only the national Red Cross is deploying experts and relief workers to the hard-hit areas.
Donations to the Philippines typhoon relief effort can be made locally through the Mount Baker Chapter or by calling 1-800-red-cross.
