MOUNT VERNON, Wash. – The temporary span on the Skagit River Interstate-5 bridge had to repaired this weekend after an “L” joint came loose.
State transportation officials closed the right lane of the temporary span to inspect the bridge.
The joint, which holds the asphalt in place between the temporary span and the bridge, was welded back into place and crews spread new asphalt over it.
WSDOT inspected all the joints on the temporary span to make sure they were secure.
A permanent replacement section of the bridge is expected to be completed in September.
