Lummi, Wash. – The Lummi Nation is receiving half-a-million dollars from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to help expand the supply of affordable homes on the reservation.
The tribe will use the money to build new roads, sidewalks, street lights, and sewer and water lines to support 12 new triplexes.
The new homes will be built near Northwest Indian College, with close access to mass transit and other community services.
Lummi Nation is one of five tribes in Washington state to win funding from HUD’s highly-competitive Indian Community Development Block grant program.
