Lummi, Wash. – The Chief Federal Law Enforcement Officer in Western Washington is honoring Lummi Nation tribal staff for their work helping crime victims.
U.S. Attorney Jenny Durkan presented the Lummi Victims of Crime Unit Tuesday with a certificate thanking the staff for their exceptional work serving victims.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Tate London says the Lummi Nation sets ‘the gold standard’ for helping victims of domestic violence, abuse, assault or other crimes.
The presentation was a surprise for the unit’s 14 staff members.
Durkan also gave special thanks to Lummi Tribal Detective Kelley Long for working closely with the FBI on U.S. Attorney’s Office cases.
