Lynden woman dies in high-speed rollover crash

A young woman has died and a man is seriously injured after a rollover crash Friday night on West Badger Road near Lynden.

State troopers say the car sped off the road, flipped and crashed into a power pole after trying to race another car near Markworth Road.

KOMO News reports troopers believe the injured driver, 20-year-old Curtis Guerro-Marquez of Lynden, had been high on marijuana at the time of the crash.

Medics transported him to Saint Joseph’s Hospital and he is expected to survive. His passenger, 18-year-old Disarae Garrison-Jones of Lynden, died at the scene.

Troopers say they intend to charge Guerro-Marquez with vehicular homicide. They believe the other racing car is a maroon color and are trying to identify the driver.
