Man rescued from burning home

Bellingham Police officers rescued a man from a burning house early today.

Someone called 911 from a home on Ponderosa Court near BayviewCemetery at about 4 a.m. but the call was disconnected before the person could tell dispatchers what the emergency was.

Police officers responded and found the home on fire and saw a man inside.

They were able to get him out and then fight the fire with a garden hose until firefighters arrived.

They extinguished the fire and the man was transported to the hospital.

A dog was also rescued from the home.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
