EVERETT, Wash. – Public comment at yesterday’s hearing on rules regulating recreational marijuana shows many people are concerned at the taxes that will be charged on the plant.
Many are concerned that taxes charged by the state will put recreational marijuana at a much higher price than medical marijuana, creating what could be unhealthy competition.
Other issues raised by the nearly two-dozen speakers at the Everett hearing included questions about how the federal government will treat those who own marijuana businesses and purchase product from them.
Yesterday’s hearing was the first of five to be held around the state.
