BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Milky colored water reported in Padden Creek near Fairhaven Park is still a mystery.

Dave Chesson with the Washington State Department of Transportation says they’re still guessing at what the substance could be, especially since the water is clear in areas around the discolored water.

Eric Johnston with Bellingham Public Works says they tested the water yesterday and found that the pH levels are still normal, which he says is a good sign.

They will continue to work with the Department of Ecology and WSDOT to find out what the substance causing the discoloration is and where it came from.
