EVERETT, Wash. – More than a million people across the state will be shelling out more money to pay their natural gas bills.
The state Utilities and Transportation Commission has approved a rate increase for customers of four state utilities.
The rate increases go into effect today for customers of Puget Sound Energy, Eastern Washington’s Avista, Kennewick-based Cascade Natural Gas, and Portland-based Northwest Natural Gas.
The commission says the rate hikes are necessary due to rising wholesale prices.
