BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Neighbors will take to the streets tomorrow night to celebrate the 30th Annual National Night Out Against Crime.
Bellingham Police Chief, Cliff Cook says the event is an opportunity for neighbors to get to know each other, look out for each other, and make the community safer.
He says it is also a chance to build stronger relationships between police and the community, and to talk with people about preventing crimes before they become victims.
The national event began in 1984 and was originally known as “America’s Night Out Against Crime.”
Neighborhoods across the nation typically celebrate with parades, cookouts and block parties.
