TOPPENISH, Wash. – The Yakama Nation says it will not participate in efforts to legalize marijuana.
Yakama Nation attorney George Colby tells the “Yakima Herald” that the citizens of Washington lack authority to legalize recreational marijuana use on tribal lands, and the drug will remain illegal on the 1.2 million-acre reservation.
The Washington State Liquor Control Board says reservation lands are subject to federal jurisdiction, and marijuana remains illegal under federal laws.
