NEWHALEM, Wash. – The state transportation department says the North Cascades Highway will reopen this morning.
The stretch of SR-20 that has been closed because of mudslides is scheduled to reopen at 10 a.m.
Crews have been working since August 11 to clear debris from eight mudslides that covered portions of the road over a six-mile stretch between Skagit and Methow valleys.
Transportation officials say motorists can expect to encounter orange cones, signs, and other traffic control after the highway is reopened.
