North Cascades National Park closes with government shutdown

WASHINGTON STATE – North Cascades National Park Service Complex is closed due to the partial federal government shutdown.

Visitor centers, park hotels, campgrounds and roads have all been closed.

Highway 20 will remain open.

Visitors have until 3:00 p.m. today to clear out of all of the nation’s parks.

About 160 North Cascades employees have been put on furlough.

Eighteen rangers remain on patrol for security and emergency services.

All 400 national parks will remain closed until the government shutdown is over.
