MOUNT VERNON – The National Transportation Safety Board is set to release a preliminary report later this month detailing the circumstances of the Skagit River Bridge collapse in Washington state.
Federal investigators have interviewed the driver of the pilot vehicle who was guiding the truck carrying an oversize load over the I-5 bridge at the time of the collapse.
The driver told investigators she saw the bridge collapse from her rear-view mirror.
The bridge collapsed after a semi carrying an oversize and overheight load apparently struck several support beams.
