ARLINGTON, Wash. – Police continue to investigate the death of a 16-year-old during a bicycling fundraiser in Arlington.

Authorities have identified the teen as Xavier Pelletier of Victoria, British Columbia.

Pelletier was hit by a car when he fell in the roadway as he tried to pass a group of bicyclists Sunday near the intersection of Smokey Point Boulevard and 204th Street Northeast, during the Ride to Conquer Cancer.

Police say the woman who was driving the car was unable to stop in time, even though she was traveling below the posted speed limit.
