Officials shut down campground because of hungry bear

Metro

MARBLEMOUNT, Wash. – A campground at the North Cascades National Park in Chelan County has been shut down because of increased bear related activity.

The National Parks Service says a bear broke into a garbage bin at the Tumwater Campground near Leavenworth earlier this week and found plenty to munch on.

The garbage can was removed and the campground has been closed until at least July 3.

Officials are concerned the bear will come back repeatedly to the campground to find more food.
