BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A partnership between PeaceHealth and two Skagit County public hospital districts could cut costs and increase services for local patients.
The Boards of Commissioners at Skagit Calley Hospital and Cascade Valley Hospital voted last Thursday to begin talks on the partnership.
PeaceHealth’s Northwest Network CEO Nancy Steiger says the affiliation will allow the hospitals to bring in specialists that they couldn’t otherwise afford.
Cascade Valley Hospital will move forward with a full affiliation with PeaceHealth.
Skagit Valley Hospital will move forward with a “medium” affiliation.
Island Hospital’s board voted not to pursue a partnership at this time.
If the plan goes through, Steiger says patients in Skagit County would start to see improvements within a year.
