PeaceHealth says partnerships will not reduce services

KGMI News Reporting

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The ACLU of Washington and other organizations in the state have called for a state moratorium on mergers between secular hospitals and catholic non-profits.

They believe the religious affiliation may reduce certain services.

The Senior Vice President for Strategy and Development at PeaceHealth says they have partnered with local hospitals because they were invited to help.

PeaceHealth’s Peter Alder says nothing they do stops other organizations from forming similar partnerships.

Alder says none of their partnerships with local hospitals, including recent ones on San Juan Island and in Sedro Woolley, have reduced any services.
