Police departments across Wash. receive criminal justice grants

OLYMPIA, Wash. – Washington State is getting nearly $5 million from the Justice Department to improve criminal justice.

The Washington State Attorney’s Office says $1.3 million in direct grants are going to individual police departments across the state.

Skagit County is getting $10,000 for their Victim Offender Meeting Program.

The City of Bellingham received $35,000 for their active shooter training for police officers.

A large chunk of the direct grants, about $247,000 went to the UW’s wrongful conviction review program known as Innocence Project Northwest.
