SEATTLE, Wash. – A new opinion poll shows the fate of an initiative that would require foods with genetically-engineered ingredients to be labeled as such is too close to call.
The Survey USA poll of 546 likely voters across Washington shows 45 percent in favor of I-522, 38 percent against, and 16 percent undecided.
The poll, conducted for KING-TV, shows support for the initiative is stronger among younger voters.
The Seattle area is tilted toward I-522, with the remainder of the state almost evenly split.
