BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Blake Poole has been named the International Basketball Player of the Week. The IBL made the announcement Wednesday.
Poole averaged 27 points and 16 rebounds in back-to-back Slam victories last week as Bellingham downed the Vancouver Volcanoes 126-104 at home and the East Bay Pit Bulls 111-83 on the road. Poole added six assists, four steals and a pair of blocked shots in the win over East Bay.
Poole is averaging 19.4 points and 12.2 rebounds per game, ranking him eleventh and third, respectively. He also finds himself in the top ten in steals, picking up nearly two per game.
He is the second Slam player to earn the IBL’s Player of the Week honors. Guard Jacob Stevenson picked up the award following the first week of the season.
The 14-and-2 Slam, who have clinched the top seed in the IBL playoffs, host the Salem Sabres Saturday in their final home game of the season. with a 7 p.m. tip-off scheduled for Whatcom Pavilion. You can hear the game on KGMI (790AM) or www.kgmi.com beginning at 6:35pm.
