OLYMPIA, Wash. – People who are interested in legally growing, processing, or selling marijuana in Washington State are getting their chance.
Businesses and individuals can start applying for recreational marijuana business licenses starting at 8:00 a.m. this morning.
Washington voters legalized the production, sale and use of recreational marijuana by approving Initiative 502 in November last year.
Mikhail Carpenter with the Washington State Liquor Control Board says a lot of people are excited to enter the new pot industry.
He says applicants will have to present a business plan and ensure that they will be located at least 1,000 feet away from any schools, parks, transit centers or game arcades.
Licensing can be done online, by mail or in person until December 19 at 5:00 p.m.
