Recreational fire ban in effect

KGMI News Reporting
By Mike Curtiss

WASHINGTON STATE – Washington’s Commissioner of Public Lands has banned all outdoor fires on state-protected forestland in an effort to reduce wildfires.

Campfires and other recreational fires are prohibited in all state, local and private campgrounds through September 30.

Hot and dry conditions have raised the potential for wildfires on both sides of the Cascade Mountains.

More than 1,600 firefighters are working to control two wildfires burning east of the Cascades.
