WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – Thanks to the recent rain, the Whatcom County Fire Marshal’s Office has lifted the ban on campfires.
Deputy Fire Marshal Wain Harrison says people can now have recreational fires in approved fire pits that are no more than 3 feet in diameter.
He says any other outdoor burning is still not allowed.
The recent rains and milder weather also means campers can now have fires in all state park campgrounds west of the Cascade crest.
Commissioner of Public Lands Peter Goldmark announced Friday that he is lifting the campfire ban on forest lands under DNR fire protection in western Washington.
