According to the a report in The News Tribune of Tacoma, the Seattle Mariners have extended the contract of general manager Jack Zduriencik for one year through 2014. The organization, through Mariners president Chuck Armstrong, declined comment on the extension.
Details of the extension were not given in the report. The article does say the deal was likely struck before the 2013 season according to sources close to major league baseball and the organization.
Zduriencik’s deal was set to expire at the end of the current season.
The contract for Mariners manager Eric Wedge is also set to expire at the end of the Season. The 45-year-old skipper, recovering from a mild stroke, is expected to rejoin the club Friday in Seattle.
