Report: Mariners interview Valle for managerial opening

Citing sources familiar with the meeting, Ted Keith, MLB writer on SI.com, the Seattle Mariners interviewed former catcher Dave Valle about their managerial opening this week. Valle has no managerial or coaching experience but is well-known and regarded by the organization as he has worked several seasons as a Mariners broadcaster.

Drafted by Seattle in 1978, Valle (53) played 10 seasons with the Mariners. He then moved on to play for more than three years with Boston, Milwaukee and Texas.
