The Seattle Seahawks waived injured tight end Anthony McCoy Tuesday less than a week after he underwent surgery to repair a torn Achilles tendon. McCoy suffered the injury during last week’s organized team activities.
If he clears waivers, McCoy will be placed on injured reserve. The three-year
pro is expected to miss up to nine months with the injury, which occurred
during team offseason training activities.
A sixth-round pick of Seattle in the 2010 draft, McCoy is coming off a 2012
season in which he established career highs with 18 catches, 291 receiving
yards and three touchdowns as the Seahawks’ No. 2 tight end.
Seattle signed tackle Jake Bscherer to fill the roster spot. The former university of Wisconsin and Minnesota-Duluth player was at the Seahawks rookie mini-camp as a tryout player.
