Sex offender who fled Canada suspected of assault

AP News

SEATTLE, Wash.  - A violent sex offender who had served prison time in Canada will appear in a Seattle courtroom today on charges he sexually assaulted a 16-year-old boy on Tuesday.

Police say Michael Sean Stanley struck up a conversation with a 16-year-old boy at a convenience store, supplied him with alcohol in an alley and sexually assaulted him.

The teen pulled a knife to get away and contacted police.

Stanley was being monitored by Canadian police when authorities say he cut off his electronic monitoring bracelet and fled to the U.S.

Canadian officials call the American man an untreated, violent offender.
