MOUNT VERNON, Wash. – Expect some delays if you’re driving over the I-5 Skagit River bridge Saturday morning.

WSDOT crews will be giving the temporary span on the bridge its first checkup.

Crews will close the right lane on the southbound side of the bridge from 5:30 to 8:30 a.m. and one lane of northbound side from 5:30 to 10 a.m.

They will be inspecting the new asphalt deck and making sure that all the bolts are tight on the upper structure of the temporary span.

WSDOT plans to do checkups each month until a permanent fix is installed.
