State board adopts marijuana-industry rules

OLYMPIA, Wash. – Marijuana producers and vendors in Washington are gearing up to do business after the official adoption of industry rules and regulations by the state Liquor Control Board.

Those rules include requiring background checks; limiting each applicant to three licenses to avoid monopolies; seed-to-sale tracking for all product; child-resistant packaging; and warning labels.

No shop will be allowed to be located within 1,000 feet of a school, playground, or park.

The Liquor Control Board voted unanimously yesterday to adopt the rules.
