OLYMPIA, Wash. – State election officials are using new technology to update voter registration records and reach out to possible voters who aren’t yet registered.

Washington Secretary of State Kim Wyman says county auditors are currently sending postcards with voter registration information to more than 140,000 eligible, but unregistered residents.

The massive update is being made possible thanks to the Electronic Registration Information Center, a non-profit organization that helps states improve the accuracy of voter rolls and identify people who are eligible to vote.

Wyman says, “We need to continue modernizing our voter registration system to be more accurate, cost-effective, and efficient.”
