OLYMPIA, Wash. – According to initial returns, the statewide initiative to require genetically-engineered foods to be labeled as such is trailing by a 55 percent to 45 percent margin.

Campaigns for and against I-522 have raised a record amount of money for a Washington state initiative.

Initiative 517, which is designed to protect those gathering signatures for proposed initiatives, is trailing by a margin of 60 percent to 40 percent.

Election results will be updated throughout the week and officially certified on November 26th.
