OLYMPIA, Wash. – Washington teachers say it’s time for their cost of living raises to come back.
Voters approved annual COLAs in 2000, but legislators have suspended them since 2008 because of the recession.
Rich Wood with the Washington Education Association says the economy has improved, but not for educators.
The union hopes the COLAs will be included in Governor Jay Inslee’s budget.
He’s set to release his spending plan today.
