PORT ORCHARD, Wash. – A man whose 1994 murder convictions were overturned by the Washington State Supreme Court last year is awaiting sentencing after being found guilty in his second trial.
A Kitsap County jury convicted 60-year-old Darold Stenson of the 1993 slayings of his wife, Denise Stenson, and his business partner, Frank Hoerner, near Sequim.
Stenson was on death row for 14 years and was only days away from being put to death when a judge issued a stay of execution in November 2008.
He faces life without parole when he’s sentenced next month.
