KGMI News Reporting

BLAINE, Wash. – Thefts of tools and copper wire are on the rise in Blaine.

Lisa Moeller with the Blaine Police Department says thieves are getting into open or unlocked spaces in marinas, storage yards and construction sites.

She says they are looking for easy items to pawn or sell.

The department advises people to secure sheds, lockers and boats with heavy-duty locks that can’t be easily cut.

If anyone sees suspicious activity, they are asked to call 9-1-1 and not risk their safety trying to confront a thief.
