MOUNT VERNON, Wash. – The Washington State Patrol will be handing out tickets if they catch anyone breaking laws along the Skagit River bridge detours.

Trooper Mark Francis says the regular commute week just started and they’ve already received lots of complaints about drivers blocking intersections, illegally passing other cars and running red lights.

They’ve started giving verbal warnings to drivers blocking intersections along the main detour routes, especially on SR 9 at College Way and Riverside.

Francis says if people continue to run red lights and break traffic laws, troopers will start handing out tickets.
