FERNDALE, Wash. – Two Ferndale teachers are being honored with the opportunity to participate in a national conference for the Library of Congress.
Lori Lincoln and Krista Skewis from Horizon Middle School will head to Washington, D.C. next week.
They have been chosen to be part of a group of a hundred teachers to attend the Primary Sources Summer Teacher Institute.
Meg Steele with the Library of Congress says they will learn how to use original sources instead of the usual textbooks to help students learn about U.S. and world history.
Thousands of documents, photos and other historical works are digitized by the library and made available to the public.
Skewis and Lincoln were picked out of more than 500 applicants.
They will pass along what they learn to other teachers when they return.
