OLYMPIA, Wash. – Washington’s job market continues to show strength, even though the unemployment rate saw a slight uptick in July.
The state Employment Security Department says the jobless rate of 6.9 percent was up a tenth of a point from June.
The state added an estimated 8,800 jobs in July, driven mainly by education and health services.
Wholesale trade and the public sector showed job losses.
