Unincorporated burn ban lifts Wednesday

WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – Starting tomorrow, restrictions on open burning will be lifted for unincorporated areas of Whatcom County.

A permanent ban on open burning still remains in effect for most urban cities and the Cherry Point area.

Verbal permission is required to have an open fire and can be obtained by calling 360-676-6934.

Lummi Island remains under a burn ban until September 25 when the Whatcom Chief Ferry will be back in service.

The burn ban on DNR protected lands will be lifted September 30.

All outdoor burning, except recreational fires, require a burn permit.
