(Seattle, WA) — Former University of Washington football star Reggie Rogers is dead. Police say they were called to a home on Yesler Way yesterday for a man not breathing. Rogers was an All-American at UW from 1984 to 1986, but soon after his life spiraled out of control.
That was Rogers addressing the court in 2009, during an appearance for one of his six DUI convictions in Washington.
Rogers was a first-round draft pick by the NFL’s Detroit Lions in 1987, but just a year later, he killed three teens in a drunk driving accident in Michigan. He served time in prison and later joined the Buffalo Bills, only to get cut after two games. Since then, he was in and out of jail on DUI, assault and other charges. There are reports he may have died from a drug overdose. Rogers was 49.
