OLYMPIA, Wash. – A former Whatcom Republican Party chairperson is now the interim state GOP Chair.
The party elected Luanne Van Werven as the state vice chair in January and will be taking over after the sudden resignation of Kirby Wilbur.
Wilbur resigned Monday to accept a contract with the Young America’s Foundation in Washington, D.C. Party bylaws requires members to elect a new chair within 90 days.
Van Werven hasn’t ruled out running for the position, but says there are plenty of viable candidates.
