BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Progressive candidates Pinky Vargas and Roxanne Murphy are leading their opponents for the Bellingham City Council by wide margins after last night’s vote count.

Vargas received more than 63 percent of the initial vote over Clayton Petree for the city council’s Ward 4 seat.

Murphy is the likely winner of the city council at-large seat with more than 74 percent of the first vote count over her opponent Bob Burr.
