BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Performing well in splitting two season-opening road games, Western Washington University plays host this week to two of the strongest men’s soccer programs in the Pacific West Conference.
The Vikings meet Notre Dame de Namur on Thursday, Sept. 12 (3 p.m.) and Hawaii Pacific on Saturday, Sept. 14 (7 p.m.) at Orca Field on the Whatcom CC campus.
WWU began its campaign with a tough 2-1 overtime loss against Metro State, but bounced back with a convincing 4-1 victory over Colorado Christian
Notre Dame de Namur enters 1-1-0, losing 2-1 in overtime to Cal State Monterey ay and shutting out Cal State East Bay, 1-0. The Argonauts were 13-5-1 last year and won the PacWest title in 2008.
Hawaii Pacific (1-1-0), which plays at Simon Fraser on Thursday, opened with a 4-2 win over Chaminade and tied Cal State San Bernardino 0-0 in overtime. The Sea Warriors took the 2011 PacWest crown.
Following the two-game home stand, WWU begins GNAC play on the road, traveling to Northwest Nazarene on Sept. 19 and Montana State Billings on Sept. 21.
